I'm Still Here
We are sculpted and created perfect as a newborn. We come into this world a blank slate. Things happen to us. We make choices. We are battered and tossed and broken. But as time goes on, that wear and tear become the most beautiful and complex part of ourselves. That blank slate is still there but it has now been elaborated upon by our life's varied experiences. The forgotten statue in this song; when we look at these relics, we want to know their story. Who made you? And why? And what did you look like when you were brand new? There is a sadness, a poignancy that springs up when looking at something so weathered, but also a joy and awe in the fact that it remains. It withstood so much, and it is arguably more beautiful than ever in this state. I'm Still Here depicts these seasons in our lives and how we move through them.
Award-winning director and actor, Eva Tavares hails from Vancouver, BC. Most recently portraying Christine in the Broadway Tour of Phantom of the Opera, Tavares is a graduate of UBC Opera, the LAMDA Shakespeare Short Course, the WIDC CAM for Female Directors, and the Banff/Citadel Training Program. Her film projects (A Little Vacation, I’m Still Here, Where Women Gather) have garnered international acclaim.
