Details Of Toronto Film Festival’s C$23M Market Revealed: Name & Dates Set As More Heavyweight Industry Advisors Join Ahead Of 2026 Launch

The Toronto Film Festival has unveiled the name, dates, and eight new industry leaders joining the committee to bring its new market to fruition, as exclusively revealed by Deadline.

The Toronto team is present in Cannes, networking as their new market plans, set to launch in 2026, gain momentum. TIFF: The Market – the official name – will take place from September 10 to 16.

TIFF: The Market has expanded its Advisory Committee with eight new members: Moses Babatope, Founder & CEO, Nile Media Entertainment Group; Michael Barker, Co-President and Co-Founder, Sony Pictures Classics; Arianna Bocco, Head of Global Distribution, MUBI; Janet Brown, President, Global Content Sales, BBC Studios; Diana Bustamante Escobar, Producer; Jeongin Hong, CEO, Megabox; Laura Michalchyshyn, CCO & Co-President, Content Production, Blue Ant Studios; and Vicki Dobbs Beck, VP, Immersive Content at Lucasfilm & ILM.

They join previously announced members Niv Fichman, Vincent Maraval, Jérôme Paillard, Noah Segal, Monique Simard, Roeg Sutherland, and Kerry Swanson.

The new event will encompass TV, interactive, and digital content alongside film. It is strongly supported by Canada’s Federal Government with C$23M ($16.5M) in funding. Despite the challenges facing the indie film industry, the substantial financial backing, TIFF’s esteemed reputation as a premier festival, and the industry experts providing guidance raise high expectations for the new market’s success. Given that Toronto has hosted an unofficial market for years, many buyers and sellers already attend.

“We’re designing TIFF: The Market to address the rapidly changing needs of the global screen industries,” said TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey. “Our goal is to enhance the influence of screen storytellers by uniting dealmakers, talent, and audiences in a significantly larger way.” Bailey has previously told Deadline that he aims to more than double the current industry attendance of around 5,000.

TIFF’s Chief Programming Officer, Anita Lee, added: “As the momentum for TIFF: The Market’s launch continues to grow, we have brought together experts from all sectors of the screen industries. Their vast global expertise and experience will be crucial in shaping and delivering a world-class event that will support the industry now and in the future.”
