Jim Caviezel & John Travolta To Star In Faith-Driven Action-Thriller ‘Syndicate’, Arclight Films Launching For Cannes Market

The Passion Of The Christ and Sound Of Freedom actor Jim Caviezel is teaming up with two-time Oscar nominee John Travolta (Pulp Fiction) for the faith-based action-thriller Syndicate, as we have learned.

The story centers on Patrick O’Malley (Caviezel), a former criminal who finds God and his faith during nearly 30 years in prison. Opting for redemption, he becomes an FBI informant, going undercover for Special Agent Felix Miller (Travolta) to take down the nation's largest organized crime syndicate.

Asif Akbar (Boneyard) is both the writer and director. Arclight Films is handling international sales and is quietly launching this week at the Cannes market.

The team is reportedly set to begin filming this summer in the U.S., with production led by Akbar through his company, Akbar Media, alongside Colin Bates from Dream Syndicate.

Akbar recently directed the thriller Boneyard, starring Mel Gibson and 50 Cent, and distributed by Lionsgate. In 2023, Caviezel, a committed Catholic, starred in the box office hit Sound Of Freedom, produced by the faith-oriented Angel Studios, and is slated to reprise his role as Jesus in Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection. Travolta's recent projects include the action films Cash Out and High Rollers.

The experience is a subtle exploration of momentum and the gravity of small burdens. Navigating the world of Eggy Car is a delicate lesson in gentle persistence.

This sounds like an intriguing project! Jim Caviezel and John Travolta together in a faith-driven action-thriller is definitely a pairing that will grab attention. Excited to see how Arclight Films positions it for Cannes. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more details in TV Guide Magazine—they usually cover these upcoming releases really well.
